A Programming Note...

Just wanted to post a quick update. I'm just about done with moving, so I'll be posting some more goodies in the next few days. On deck is a set of remixes by Switch/Solidgroove, who'll be workin' the warm room at Studio B this Saturday, which promises to be a grindin' good time.

Last minute reminder that i'm djing/hosting a party in Williamsburg, BK tomorrow (friday) night. If you wanna come, email me for directions, etc.

Also, someone upstairs really hates the mets.

Remix Thusday #8: The Yam Who? Edition, starring Kanye West and Pharell, Ski Oakenfull, DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, Rodney P, Joss Stone...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Yam Who? has been cranking out some of the slickest remixes I've heard in a while. My boy Rich pointed these guys out to me a short while ago, and i've not been able to get enough of them since. I wish I knew more about them (and i wish their asses would come DJ in New York already. If someone can make that happen, you'll be my personal hero. Anyways, here's a few of my favorite remixes of theirs.

Also, I'm sorry for being so slow putting things up recently. I've hit a little bit of a rut finding new music--guess the summer's over for reals, and the music world in NY is slowing down a bit. If any of you that have been reading this, and have a sense of my taste, send me some new shit!

In closing, i just wanted to add that I'm throwing a party in Williamsburg next friday night, on a great rooftop overlooking the East River. If you wanna come, send me an email, and I'll tell ya where it's at. I'm gonna DJ with a few friends, and it should be a swell time--we need to soak up these last few weeks of sunlight while we've still got 'em.

Have a great week.

e.

Remix Thursday #7: The Alan Braxe & Fred Falke Edition, starring: Kelis, Justice, Jamiroquai, Goldfrapp, Bob Sinclar, Alan and Fred...

Alright, I know that doing a "Remix Thursday" on Braxe & Falke is probably a lot like doing a "Hip Hop Monday" on Kanye West, but I've been feeling French as fuck recently (like you needed that explanation), and I've come into some cool tracks of theirs as of late. And maybe i'm feeling a little lazy, cause it's 6am and I'm waiting at the airport in Great Falls, MT, to (regretfully) return to the Apple.

So if you didn't know, Alan Braxe is 1/3 of Stardust, who made maybe the greatest track of all time. Braxe and Fred Falke together, have created some of the best house tracks of the last decade, evidenced through the recent singles collection: "Alan Braxe and Friends: The Upper Cuts". As a remix duo, they're second to none, forming epic tracks that take as much from Human-Robots called Kraftwerk as from the Robot-Humans called Daft Punk (borrowing maybe from the soundtrack to "Outrun"--the video game, not [necessarily] the Bangalter track):

Annie Mac interviews Daft Punk on Radio One

In an effort to talk about Daft Punk as much as possible, i'm now posting an interview that Radio One DJ Annie Mac did with Thomas Bangalter, which aired this past week, but apparently was recorded earlier in the summer. Thanks for the lead Dan.

Busy P @ LOVE, New Justice Date Added, Martinez Bros in Prospect Park, and blah blah blah...

Went to see Busy P last night at LOVE, and from what I remember, had a good ol' time. It was Mark Ronson's birthday party, but he wasn't spinning apparently. Wasn't really feeling the stuff his mashup pal was playing, so I headed for the love cave, when en route, I bumped into Armand Van Helden again, and I couldn't help but put on my best Bangalter-Vocorder voice and went all teachers "Van Helden in the House...yeah!". I dont think he liked it (and i think i'm okay with the idea that AVH probably dont like me too much).

Then I make a u turn, and see another house legend, DJ Falcon in the building. He mentions that he's been in town since the Daft Punk Show in Brooklyn on August 9th and was finally heading back to what sounded like Versailles this week. However, he's apparently got a Photo exhibit up at a gallery on 21st street in the gallery district (I couldn't make out what he said exactly with the noise and the French accent, but he mentioned that the reception was Thurs. August 9th at "the place in the Red building. Just look for the red building". Okeydokey. So make it out there and support the guy who brought us some of the greatest French house tracks of all time. If you can find the redness. I also begged Falcon to come play in NY soon, and he said that he might have something planned for October. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: The Gallery for DJ Falcon's Photos is Cueto Project, 551 West 21st St., 3rd Floor. The Exhibition will be open from Sept. 3rd-Oct. 6th, with the reception on Sept. 6th (today, thurs.) from 6-8pm. Cueto Project Website

From there things get a little hazy. Not exactly sure what is in those Yo-Yo 40s, but I got a little out of hand. Busy P was a great time, and he really is not just a good purveyor of music, the guy can spin for reals. It made me feel bad that i missed the other 2 shows this week. He also seemed completely psyched that AVH was in the building.

If anyone got any great pictures of the party, please send 'em to me, and i'll put 'em up.

Other notes of my own personal interest.

Justice added another show at Terminal 5 on Oct. 22nd (Perhaps this is with Falcon--totally out of the blue guess from me). Tix on sale friday through the usual suspects. The other one sold out quick as fuck, so you may wanna get on this early.

Disco Pioneer Nicky Siano is playing the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum 6-9pm this friday night.

Also, there's apparently a great-looking free house event this weekend in Prospect Park with DJ Spinna, The Martinez Brothers, and others. I'll be out of town, but make sure to take pictures and cut a rug for me.:
