Alan Braxe & DJ Falcon @ Studio B, Brooklyn 10/13/07

After watching 2 football games (condolences to my Red Stick friends/boomer fucking sooner), and tossing back far too much bourbon for my own good, I headed to Studio B Saturday to see two living legends do their thing. From the beginning (1:15am) there were nothing but epic tracks, and it became apparent that DJ Falcon's set was going to be a tribute to his counterpart for the evening, Alan Braxe. 3 minutes into the set, the faintest twinklings of the classic "Holiday" guitar from Music Sounds Better With You started a frenzy on the dancefloor, and for the rest of the night, it would be nothing but smiles and a ton of sweaty fist-pumping. He continued a gigantic set with Braxe/Falke classics, includingPalladium, Intro, and most largely In Love With You, not to mention their remix of Justice's D.A.N.C.E.

Around the time Falcon was about to finish his set on Ableton Live, and Braxe was pulling out his CDs, all the booze from the evening finally started taking effect, and what ensued was drunken-Ethan French-Touch-Fanboydom (including, apparently, an attempt to high-five both DJs during said transition). But i think i got some cool pictures out of it, if not some annoyed headshaking from my friends.

Braxe took over, and as could be expected, played a harder-edged Electro sounding set, compared to the straight Disco-House party that was Falcon's. He returned Falcon's tribute by dropping the ubiquitous Call on Me, and So Much Love To Give, as well as several of his own new-school remixes. Falcon then joined Braxe on the decks at around 4am, to close out the night with some Prince, Live Element's Be Free and a reprise of In Love With You.

I don't know what else to say, except what a priviledge it was to hear these two amazing musicians work their magic, and a powerful reminder of why I love house music. Long live the French Touch!

Man i wish the viper room in LA was cool to party until 4 am. We only got to party with them until 2 am. But we had SebastiAn in the house, plus a very special guest, that me and one photographer noticed the entire night. Irony that all the DP fans were dancing to his music while he was there but never knew he was there.
